Every picture is worth a thousand words – lucky for you, I let my camera do the talking.

Rumbling Tummy

Editing wedding and engagement photos makes me swoon. My heart flutters seeing two people so in love with one another. So it shouldn't be a stretch to image that editing food photos like these makes my tummy rumble with hunger.

Here are just a few images from a recent session at the Cypress Creek Roundup. The taco images are from the oh-so-yummy BC Tacos and the arepas are from the addictive Arepabox.

I'm excited to say that my food photography work might be picking up in the near future. Fingers crossed!

Alrighty, time to have a snack and then back to the wedding photos and my swooning heart :)

KCP MIA

I know, I know... You've heard this song and dance before. "Dear readers," (there are readers... right?) "Dear readers, I know I've been bad about updating, excuse excuse excuse, sorry sorry sorry". I won't give you an excuse, but I will say that I'm sorry.

Here I am, trying very hard to get back into the blogging mindset. So here is the proverbial "toe being dipped into the water" with a teaser from a recent maternity session.

I shot at one of my favorite locations (the Morikami Museum and Japanese Garden) and had a blast! They're so in love with one another and it shows. He couldn't stop hugging her and she couldn't stop smiling. Their little mister is going to be born into a house filled with a lot of love.

"Now, that wasn't too bad now was it, Kelly?"
No, it wasn't... not at all! I promise to be back very soon and be better about posting for my readers (there are readers... right?)

Embrace the Change

I'm not usually one to willingly embrace change... but I've become a fan of the new "timeline" layout on facebook. That's why I excited when it was announced that pages would also being receiving a timeline makeover! I quickly rounded up a few favs and whipped up a Kelly Coulson Photography "Cover Photos" for the page. What do you think?

I've been shooting a lot lately (1st birthday parties and weddings and portraits oh my!) and am doing my best to keep up with all the editing that needs to be done. Although I knocked some out earlier today, I by no means got enough accomplished. I foresee my tush being glued to my computer chair for a least a day or two.

POTW - 02/19/2012

Several months ago I began working as a second shoot with a wonder wedding photographer, Gina of Photog Studios. Working with her, I've had the chance to shoot some absolutely amazing weddings and meet some wonderful brides, grooms and party goers.

Of all the image I shot that night (well over a 1,000) this was my favorite of the day... simply put, it's a beautiful bride with her best friends on the most important day of her life. They looked both relaxed and elated... the calm before the storm of emotions.

Every wedding I shoot I say to myself "this is the most fun wedding I've EVER worked" and last weekend's wedding at The Addison was no exception to this rule. Her maids were a both lovely and hysterical and his groomsmen worked the camera like none I've ever seen before. We danced the night away and I had a blast photographing all of it! At the end of the night I packed up my gear and thought "now THAT was the most fun wedding I've ever worked!"

... until next time.

POTW - 02/12/2012

I recently started working with VFA (Vertu Fine Art) as their event photographer. It's a local gallery that hasn't been opened for very long and I've already fallen head over heels in love with the space. Whenever I visit, I make a point of packing excessive amounts of napkins to wipe away my drool.

This past Thursday was the 1st of many opening receptions for the gallery - a solo exhibition for photographer Bobby Grossman. The show was a collection of his 1980's images from his time in New York City and was stunning. It made me miss a time when all I ever did (or ever wanted to do) was print B&W images in my college dark room. It also showed me how far I've come from that kind wearing her ex's ARMY hoodie so I wouldn't stain my own clothes with the processing chemicals.

I had an amazing time talking to artists, art enthusiasts and random people who wandered in for free booze and food. It was nice to be back in that element and even better to be supporting a gallery that I truly enjoy.

I can't wait for the next show and am looking forward to a long relationship with VFA. Here's to many more successful events at VFA!
